The U.S. Department of Labor\u2019s Occupational Safety and Health Administration isn\u2019t wasting any time, starting off the new year with much anticipated stricter compliance standards regarding worker safety.<\/span> As of January 2nd, 2024, <\/b>certain employers in high-hazard industries<\/b><\/a> must submit more injury and illness information to OSHA.<\/b><\/p>\n

OSHA\u2019s new reporting requirement applies to a wide range of industries from hospitals and healthcare businesses, to manufacturers, retail businesses (including grocery and department stores), warehousing and storage businesses and more. Beginning in March, those affected establishments must submit detailed information about recordable workplace injuries and illnesses from the prior calendar year using OSHA\u2019s new filing system, Injury Tracking Application (ITA).<\/span><\/p>\n

This announcement also comes just in time to fall under <\/span>new OSHA penalty amounts<\/span><\/a> that recently took effect on January 16th, 2024. Now, OSHA’s maximum penalties for serious and other-than-serious violations will increase from $15,625 per violation to $16,131 per violation. It has never been more important (and financially advantageous) to meet OSHA compliance standards.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
