Download and run the MS SQL Server Installer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. In <em>Authentication Mode<\/em>, select <strong>Mixed Mode<\/strong>. Enter and confirm a password for the system administrator (&#8220;sa&#8221;) account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">b. In <em>Specify SQL Server administrators<\/em>, select either <strong>Add\u00a0Current User<\/strong> or <strong>Add<\/strong> if you wish to add a different user.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">c. Open <em>Management Studio<\/em> in Windows by navigating to <strong>Start\u2192<\/strong><strong>All Programs\/All Apps\u2192<\/strong><strong>Microsoft SQL Server\u2192<\/strong><strong>Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">6. <em>Management Studio<\/em> will launch. When the <em>Connect to Server<\/em> dialog box appears:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">a. Select <strong>SQL Server Authentication<\/strong> in the <em>Authentication<\/em> drop-down menu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">b. Enter &#8220;sa&#8221; (meaning system administrator) in <em>Login<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">c. Enter the password you created earlier in the process in <em>Password<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">d. Select <strong>SQL Server authentication<\/strong>, and then enter and confirm a password for this user.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">c. Select the <strong>Server Roles<\/strong> tab in the navigation bar to the left, and choose the permissions you wish to grant to the user.
