Open Device ManageR in your web browser. You may open it by entering \u2018localhost:8080\u2019 or \u2018&lt;IP address of Device ManageR host system&gt;:8080\u2019 in your browser\u2019s address bar.<\/p>\n<p>2. Select<strong> Alerts\/Tasks<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left.<\/p>\n<p>3. In the <em>Alerts\/Tasks<\/em> menu, select <strong>Alerts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>4. To add your first alert, select <strong>Add<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ADM_AlertsTasks_Alerts_Add.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3238\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ADM_AlertsTasks_Alerts_Add.png\" alt=\"ADM_AlertsTasks_Alerts_Add\" width=\"600\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ADM_AlertsTasks_Alerts_Add.png 960w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ADM_AlertsTasks_Alerts_Add-300x74.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. In the <em>Add New Alert<\/em> screen that appears:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>Name<\/em>, enter a name for your alert. Our example is called &#8216;Data Center Temperature &gt; 80 F.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>Device<\/em>, select your Room Alert from the drop-down list. We&#8217;re choosing the Room Alert 32E in our data center.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>Alarm when&#8230;<\/em>, you&#8217;ll then see a drop-down list with all of the unit&#8217;s individual sensors. Select the specific sensor you wish to alert on. In our example, we&#8217;re choosing<strong> Internal Sensor &#8211; Temperature (F)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>is<\/em>, set the threshold for that sensor. The fields that appear here depend on the type of sensor you&#8217;ve chosen. In our example, we have a comparison and value field.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; First, select from the <em>Comparison Value<\/em> drop-down list. In our example, we&#8217;re choosing <strong>greater than (&gt;)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; Then, in <em>value<\/em>, enter the number that makes sense for the scale you&#8217;re using. In our example, we are measuring temperature in Fahrenheit, so we&#8217;re going to enter 80 (degrees Fahrenheit).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>Alarm if item is unavailable for X scans<\/em>, you may leave the default, 4 scans, or enter another value. You may also disable this feature if you wish by unchecking the check box. In our example, we&#8217;re leaving the default.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In <em>Action \/ Notification List<\/em>, select an already-configured list from the drop-down menu or create a new one by selecting <strong>Add<\/strong>. Here we&#8217;re choosing the &#8216;Notify IT Staff&#8217; Action \/ Notification List that we assembled in the previous FAQ, <a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/79\/how-to-configure-action-notification-lists-in-device-manager-video\/\" target=\"_blank\">How To Configure Action \/ Notification Lists In Device ManageR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Then select <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/ADM_Add_New_Alert.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3407\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/ADM_Add_New_Alert.png\" alt=\"ADM_Add_New_Alert\" width=\"450\" height=\"410\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/ADM_Add_New_Alert.png 558w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/ADM_Add_New_Alert-300x274.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ve now created your first alert in Device ManageR. In our example alert, contacts\u00a0from an IT department will be notified by email (or email-to-SMS) when the temperature in their data center climbs above 80\u00b0 F.<\/p>\n<p>You may repeat this process to create more alerts. You may also use the same Action \/ Notification List over and over again for different alerts, as we have in the example below.
